Small teams bond fast – if the activity fits the group size. The games below are designed for groups of roughly 4 – 12, need minimal setup, and work indoors, outdoors or over video. Each one targets a specific teamwork skill: communication, collaboration, problem-solving or trust.
Rush-A-Way has run small-group formats for 300+ corporate clients, and the picks here are drawn from concepts our facilitators use most often.
Table of Contents
ToggleQuick-win games (15–30 minutes)
- Two Truths and a Lie – each person shares two true facts and one lie; the group guesses. A fast icebreaker that surfaces a fun side to quieter colleagues.
- Virtual or in-room Bingo – a light, inclusive game where players mark off action items as they happen; ideal for warming up a small group.
- Pictionary – build a word list from your own company values and product, then play in pairs to get everyone laughing and talking.
- Trivia round – a themed quiz (movies, science, GK) that re-creates after-work socialising for hybrid or remote teams.
Problem-solving games (30–60 minutes)
- Mini scavenger hunt – a small-scale version of a scavenger or treasure hunt. Hide clues around the office or a venue; teams of 3–4 race to solve them. Scales beautifully and is one of our most-requested formats.
- Straw-gile build – give each pair limited materials and a time limit to build the tallest free-standing structure. Pure collaboration under pressure.
- Pyramid build – a timed construction challenge that rewards delegation and planning over brute force.
- The Black Box – a collaborative concept that pushes a small team to work effectively within a strict time frame.
Connection & trust games
- Know Me Better – structured prompts that help a new or small team learn what makes each member tick.
- Discover My Superpowers – each member names a hidden strength; the group maps how those strengths complement one another.
- Recipe swap / live cook-along – members share a favourite dish or recreate one together, a low-pressure way to bond cross-culturally.
- Future Self – each person describes themselves 20 years from now in 30 seconds; reveals goals and builds empathy.
How to choose the right game
Match the game to your objective: icebreakers for new teams, problem-solving builds for groups that need to collaborate harder, and trust games for teams under stress. For a deeper primer, see the 6 signs of an effective team building activity.
